If you are having trouble accessing or using Group Management, use the following checklist:
Desktop Icon
If the Group Management icon is not on your desktop, you can add the shortcut:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- In URL field, enter the address for the Group Management server.
For example: http://10.193.129.73/gpmsweb/index.html
Note: Contact your IT Department for assistance with the address for your Group Management server. - Click on File in the menu.
- Scroll down to Menu.
- Select Shortcut to Desktop.
- The Group Management homepage should now appear on your desktop.
Pop-Up Blocker
Do you have pop-up blockers turned on? This is the most common reason users have running Group Management. Group Management cannot run with a pop-up blocker turned on. To deactivate the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer:
- Click on the Tools menu option.
- Scroll to Pop-Up Blocker.
- Click on Turn-off Pop-Up Blocker.
You may prefer to allow pop-ups from Group Management only. If so, select Pop-up Blocker settings instead of Turn Off Pop-up Blocker. Add the Group Management URL where indicated.
Note: If you have Google, Yahoo, or AOL toolbar(s) loaded on your computer, you may have additional pop-up blockers which also need to be turned off. There is normally a pop-up blocker on the toolbar. If you scroll over the icon, it will read “pop-up blocker”. Click on it and it will turn off. Some toolbar versions also have an option to allow pop-ups from specific sites only. Again, if you prefer this option, add the Group Management URL where directed.
Caps Lock Key
Is your Caps Lock key on when you are trying to log in? GE Group Management log-ins are case sensitive. Make sure you are using the appropriate case.
Cursor Placement
Is your cursor located in the Group Management screens? When working in the WFE, the cursor must be located in the terminal screen for commands to be recognized.
